Welcome to our Community web site

Welcome to the Roundshaw Community Web site,
the only independent Roundshaw web site

"Roundshaw is one of the success stories of regeneration."

Its rebuilding and resurgence from 1998 to 2008 has seen its rebirth as a desired place to live, and it is something we are very proud of. The site is supported and promoted by local residents who have a total commitment to providing information about Roundshaw. Our only bias is that we love our neighborhood.

Our site has interest to all… from fascinating insights into the history of the area to basic information about local services.

The Roundshaw Community Web site has come a long way over the last 6 years since it was first created and to celebrate its 6th birthday this month, we are rolling out a new layout and new way residents and visitors can get involved. The site has gone through a major transformation and many of the pages you will see are updated by community workers, council workers and most importantly members of our community.

The site continues to develop. Our vision is that it will grow to become a living history for the estate. We want it to be the place people look to when they want to show their kids what the place looked like when they themselves were kids; we want older people to be able to reminisce looking at the videos and the photos and the stories. But more than that we want it to be what you want it to be we want you to see it as a resource for making life just that bit easier - tips about the area what's going on maybe sharing skills with each other.

Many of our member organisations are working to build up their bits please be patient while we get these ready for you.

Meantime just enjoy what's here.. any comments gratefully received.

We hope you will choose to linger and explore.

with a card (obtainable from the show secretary) showing details of the exhibitor on the underside with the number of the class face upwards. • Halloween + BBQ

pumpkin for judging on the day. It's easier than you might think to make a scary face! Some members carve the pumpkins that they have actually grown themselves on their plot. This is of course a bonus. Candles are provided on the day to light the sculptures and it is amazing what a difference the light makes to the perceived design. Some of the children choose to wear fancy dress - again something we encourage. Last year we were able to use our new BBQ for the event and a roaring bonfire that was lit on site added to the excitement and enjoyment. It was a very impressive occasion under a full moon for a while last year!

  • We used to have a Christmas event until we....

learned from experience that everyone is so busy with family commitments that attendance was not as good as we hoped. So we changed the format to hold a New Year event in early January when life becomes a little flat after the festivities. We decorated the shed last year, lit the surrounding area and brought hot food on site including soup and filled roast potatoes and our shed was full of guests who all had a good time. Some 'party' games were organised and this caused some merriment. We are always seeking new ideas so if you have any suggestions don't hesitate to contact one of the committee members or leave a message on the website that will be answered by the Secretary

  • AGM
    Sunday 30 January 2011
  • At our AGM we review the previous year with....

the aid of reports from the Secretary, Chair and Treasurer. This is an essential means of information for and involvement of our members and we strongly urge all our members to join us and make their views heard. Our next AGM will be slightly later in the New Year than our previous meetings as we aim to attract a wider audience and a greater number of members. The agenda will be published at least a week before the AGM and posters will be on site and in newsletters as a reminder of the date and time of the meeting. It is possible that there may be elections for committee members although none of the three key posts will be terminating this year. We are always happy to receive from our members suggestions for activities and questions about our plans. If you wish to raise any issues please contact the secretary at least two weeks before the meeting so that the agenda can be amended accordingly.
